I'm officially halfway through the 21 day action plan. I've had no dairy, caffeine, added sugar, meat, alcohol or processed foods for 11 days. Wow. I feel good and slightly amazed I made it to this point with no "cheating". I've had my moments where I wanted to go off the plan, trust me. Now I want to prove to myself that I can finish what I started. You don't get to do that very often as a mom. As soon as the laundry is put away, there is another load waiting to go in. Same with the dishes, meals, housework....you get the idea.
I've noticed less cravings, especially for sweets. I could still go for a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie but I'm not craving one or feeling deprived if I miss a dessert. Today we took the kids out for ice cream. I was fine with helping Mary eat her vanilla ice cream and not having anything. I am missing chips and pretzels so I reach for roasted spiced pumpkin seeds instead. I really need to break the habit of eating chips so this is a great start.
A new test today, we went out for dinner. Joe let me choose the restaurant so we went to Ruby Tuesday's. They have a great salad bar and several fish choices on the menu. I stayed on the plan and ate out. Yay!
I mixed it up today and didn't follow the menu for Day 11. Here's what I had today:
Breakfast - Cherry date oat bar with coconut milk. I didn't let the bars cool enough when I made them so some of them fell apart. It looks like granola or cereal so I put it in a bowl with some coconut milk. Tasted great.
Lunch - Roasted beets with greens and a black bean brown rice patty
Dinner - Mixed greens and veggies salad, blackened tilapia with creole seasoning and mango salsa and butternut spaghetti squash at Ruby Tuesday's
Joe is home. Hooray!
